Why A Biodegradable Trap?

Greenlid envirosciences intention was to develop a mosquito trap that was both inexpensive and easier to deploy. The goal is to partner with governments and social agencies that can position the traps where most needed.

 

We do intend to make the technology available for everyone but have prioritized regions with evidence of mosquito borne diseases.

BioTraps are manufactured by Greenlid Envirosciences and is currently being ordered by the Australian government for use during Dengue Fever outbreaks in the State of Queensland to eliminate the mosquito population.

 

The just add water solution allows quick mass deployment with minimal cost for education. 

 

BioTraps contains the mosquito attractant, insecticide and 1 step instructions for the user. User fills with water and lets stand for 4-6 weeks. 

 

Female mosquitos travel only ~400m radius during their entire lives. By placing Traps locally you can decimate the mosquito population of a targeted area preventing spread of infection

 

Once deployed no upkeep is necessary. The trap will leak contents in 4-6 weeks coinciding with the loss of effictiveness of the insecticide and naturally break down. Just replace BioTraps and add water to begin new cycle.

Dr. Morgan Wyatt (PhD Chemical Biology) developed an additive that would both be compostable and water resistant. The patented additive allows for the creation of water resistant recycled cardboard to replace plastic.

 

Our Biodegradable Mosquito Traps are 100% 

compostable and biodegradable. They are manufactured from a waste product (end-life recycled cardboard) and minimize both the environmental impact and cost of mosquito population management.

 

B.M.T.'s acts as an all in one solution for decreasing local moquitos populations within an area, while additionally eliminating the need for upkeep and potential infestation due to mismanagement of the plastic mosquito traps. 

 

The additive is formulated to degrade at the same rate as the biocide present in the traps. This allows the user to fill it and forget it.
